Supplier assessment and selection

The management system directs everyone to focus on the company's key competencies and transfer non-key processes to suppliers and contractors. But the quality of supply and supplier processes affects the quality of the finished product, customer satisfaction, and therefore directly affects the success and profit of the organization. Therefore, supply quality assurance, a system for assessing and selecting suppliers, and supplier quality control are being introduced in management systems, in accordance with the saying "Trust but verify". The OREX Supplier assessment and selection service provides customers with many benefits.
  • Our experts are specialists with experience in technology, quality control of various products. Supplier quality control is carried out by qualified experts who evaluate not only the product separately, but also the supplier's system, the supplier's ability to produce a stable product on a long-term basis.
  • Assessment and selection of suppliers with the participation of third-party specialists is always the elimination of bias and conflicts of interest that may arise among employees of procurement services, quality control, technologists.
  • Assessment and selection of suppliers is carried out according to the assessment criteria agreed with the customer. We have our own developed assessment criteria for the selection of suppliers of both material products and services. The assessment criteria are included in the checklist for the assessment and selection of suppliers, in the future - in the Supplier Quality Control Program, in the text of the Quality Agreement.
  • Assessment and selection of suppliers with the involvement of an OREX expert is always beneficial, as time is saved on the development of evaluation criteria, on the salary fund and workplaces of employees who will carry out quality control of the supplier.
  • The service Supplier assessment and selection can be extended at the request of the customer to a range of services to ensure the quality of supplies.

Supplier assessment and selection services are implemented through several stages:

  • Purpose, program and result of the service

At this stage, OREX, together with the customer, determines the goal, work program (respectively, the scope of services) and the result that the customer should receive as a result. The goals can be very different: from the classical assessment and selection of suppliers, where, as a result, an agreement should be concluded with the best supplier, to the achievement of the quality level (defect-freeness) for a particular supplier.

  • Defining the criteria for supplier assessment

At this stage, the supplier or range of suppliers with whom the assessment and selection process will be carried out is already known. Depending on whether similar, comparable or quite different suppliers have entered the project, we formulate uniform or different quality requirements for deliveries. Within the framework of our service, these requirements are the criteria for supplier assessment and selection, and the criteria for quality control. In the future, the client can use these requirements as the basis for a Quality agreement with his suppliers.

  • Defining assessment methods

Suppliers can be assessed on the basis of documentation, through supplier audits (the most common method for which external auditors are engaged), or through product testing. Often the client uses a combination of different methods, as it is important to assess not only the specific product (or the product sample provided by the supplier), but also the management system that ensures stability of processes and consistent quality of supply.

  • Supplier assessment and selection

According to the agreed criteria and methods, the assessment and selection of suppliers or only the assessment is carried out. The service results in objective conclusions about: - supplier risks - supplier capabilities. The client receives information on the supplier's equipment fleet, the experience of completed projects, the processes where the supplier uses contractors and much more.

  • Supply quality assurance

As a result of the supplier assessment are formed: - necessary actions on the part of the supplier prior to the start of supplies (organisation of storage locations, implementation of certain control methods, etc.) - necessary actions on the part of the customer. The supplier's quality control programme is defined and, if there are significant risks in the supply, methods for rework of the procured products are defined. In addition, re-audits, personnel training, agreement on sampling and testing methods for finished products, reference samples, approval process for the first products in the batch and much more can be defined. The whole set of activities is known as ''supply quality assurance''. The experts from OREX pro are ready to support the entire supply quality assurance process.
